Kyosai's 100 Ghosts, or apparitions, is a collection of dark Ukiyo-e print images from the floating world, where all things are strange and frightening. Hiding in the background of many of his images are Oni (Japanese demons), ghosts, skeletons, ghouls, and countless other odd, eerie creatures. Each image seems to have hundreds of little images inside, making it an excellent tattoo resource based solely on the sheer volume of designs. Kyosai was said to be a heavy Sake drinker and also liked to shock the viewer with his art, which helps explain some of the brilliant insanity visible in these images.
